Referrals to Community Resources

High-risk youth need the support to connect with family and community resources. Young people who are constantly struggling for survival are put at risk of being victimized. The more time youth spend on the street the higher the risk of alienation and difficulty in accessing community resources. Street youth often have no marketable job skills and lean towards the involvement of street related activities such as drug and alcohol abuse, street crime, and sexual exploitation. The Health and Social, Justice Program is to act as a resource centre for high-risk youth by providing youth with adult youth workers to help assist them to address difficult situations such as, appearing in court, finding suitable housing, dealing with family crises, etc. The program also serves youth and young adults who are sentenced to community hours with programming which assists them with reintegration back into the community
